IT News: Cheap Alternative of Diesel Prepared by SCME–NUST

The country's economic condition is deteriorating steadily and the fuel section is no exception. There seems to be an increase in price every two weeks that pushed prices to new heights while.

One can obtain the magnitude of our dependence on foreign oil by the fact that our oil imports are expected to reach 6.5 billion this year.

The fight against this problem head on, the SCME (School of Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering) School of NUST (National University of Engineering and Technology) has released biodiesel made from Jatropha plant.

The oil extracted from Jatropha plant seeds and processed to obtain biodiesel. This is what makes this special biodiesel in particular:

The Jatropha plant can be cultivated almost anywhere.
One acre of Jatropha farms is enough to make 2000 liters of biodiesel.
Biodiesel is a clean burning and inherently eliminates a lot of impurities.

The price for a gallon of biodiesel is Rs. 25. Compare that with current prices and one can realize the importance and potential of this development. As fuel stood the test of real-world use, most of the generators and vehicles running on NUST and biodiesel with no problems at all.

As pioneers of this technology practically feasible, NUST has maintained a model farm covering an area of 15 hectares for the cultivation of Jatropha. Given the enormous potential of this project, half a million jatropha trees have been planted with 4-5 million plans to plant trees this year.

Projects like these show there is no lack of talent in our country and people who can cope with the problems our country faces right now.

If the potential of this development is fully utilized by the government (through large-scale production), could result in a significant reduction in our oil import bill and give our people relief from prices fuels.

The ball is on the roof of the government now. Let's see how to deal with it.
