Intel and Micron Technology have started sampling NAND flash memories

Intel and Micron Technology said to have begun sampling NAND flash memory built into a more new, smaller than the current versions of the chips, which are used for storage in mobile devices such as phones and tablet computers, as well as units solid state (SSD) used for enterprise storage environments.

The result of the new process will be to enable engineers to fit more memory in less space, freeing up as much as 30 to 40 percent more board space of current technologies.

Made by Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) and Micron (NASDAQ: MU) IM Flash Technologies company in the joints, the memories of the first to use new line widths of 20 nanometers - billionths of a meter. That is a significant improvement on the manufacturing process of existing 25 nm, particularly when it comes to saving board space.
